Very comfortable straight out of the box. This will be my go to boots for the fall/ winter season. I don’t go hiking but I do travel to different concrete jungles on my days off . If SHTF or if there is a zombie apocalypse, this is the only footwear I will have plus my high top hiking shoes.
It was comfortable straight out of the box. I think made in USA is overrated and over priced. Never doubt Canadian craftsmanship, quality is second to none. This is now my go to boots for fall/winter. I will love this pair for years to come. The Logan was my first choice but my budget was for the Dawson. In due time, I will own both.
I had been looking at these ever since they moved to Canada. I was curious about the quality of the shoe since they were charging so much but now it makes sense. I've had three pairs of Oliberte's over the last 5 years. The first pair I bought blew me away. I wore them every day for two years straight and the only thing that needed replacing was the toe portion of the sole. The second pair I bought had some serious quality issues (the glue that held the sole together came undone which resulted in the sole itself coming away from the shoe.) Which I dealt with for a little over a year until it finally broke my patience. I love the mission of the company and want to support so hearing that they were moving to Canada and really focusing on quality caught my attention. Granted, I'm only a month into the shoe but so far I can't see where they cut corners on production. The sole is stitched on, the leather is durable, the fit is comfortable (once you've worn them a couple of times with thick socks). If you're looking for a nice, casual leather boot that carries a handmade quality (markings on the inside of the leather are a nice touch) while supporting one of the first B corps, then look no further. These boots should last a lifetime and if they don't I just hope Oliberte sticks around long enough for me to buy another pair.
Bought Dawson's from Canada, similar to Lallo's from Ethiopia. The present shoes are made with thicker leather and better soles. I'm hoping they soften up like the Lallo's. The increase in price hopefully goes to the workers in Canada. I paid $104 for the Lallo's and now $168 for the Dawson's on sale.
I had bought Oliberte shoes made in Africa and was very happy with them. The Dawsons are an almost exact duplicate of an African named shoe I had previously bought. I hope the stiffer leather softens up. Also the soles are thicker.
Great boot, well made. Get you some
These were my 6th pair of olibertes and I have to say I did not expect such an increase in quality from the older styles to this newer style. Not to say that the older ones were bad but they definitely have been improved greatly. The sole, being a vibram sole, is of course fantastic. The boot fits me a tad tight in the toe box but that's ok since it has become much more comfortable after breaking in. Compared to a lot of other boots these were surprising easy to break in despite the leather being very durable. I would definitely recommend you pick up a pair asap!!
My first pair of Dawson's but not my first pair of Oliberte shoes. As always the quality and comfort is second to none, really excited this brand is continuing it's journey in the Canadian market.
My third pair of Oliberte boots, first from Canada. I love them; tough and great looking. I bought the Kodiak Brown as I think they will age and mellow beautifully. I live in Australia and we have a wide temperature range, dry summers and wet winters. Boots have to be tough. I go up a size and wear woollen socks. Great for walking, travelling, and exploring the hidden alleyways of large cities. My boots have climbed volcanoes, crossed oceans, been lost in rainforests, and parked under cafe tables whilst sipping coffee. Get a pair and put some miles (kilometres), under them.
Quality construction, stylish, and ethically sourced. Soothing to the feet and the soul...in style!
